Why do we exist & what do we support?

The Friends of Buffalo Creek Foundation (FOBC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that supports the Buffalo Creek Cadet Squadron. This is a multifaceted youth development program hosted on the campuses of our partner schools as an after-school/weekend/summer activity.

Friends of Buffalo Creek Foundation (FOBC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Civil Air Patrol (CAP) cadet programs serving youth across the City of Buffalo. Through our work, FOBC provides operational, logistical, and programmatic support to three local CAP cadet squadrons: Buffalo Creek Cadet Squadron (NY-614), Buffalo Guardians Cadet Squadron (NY-615), and Path Carver Cadet Squadron (NY-616).

The Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program is a nationally recognized youth development program for youth beginning at age 12. The program is designed to help young people build leadership skills, confidence, and a strong sense of character. Cadets participate in hands-on learning experiences in leadership development, aerospace education, character and citizenship, drill and ceremonies, teamwork, rocketry, drone operations, aviation, and more.

Similar to the Air Force JROTC program, the CAP Cadet Program is modeled on U.S. Air Force customs and courtesies and includes the wear of Air Force–style uniforms. Cadets have opportunities to earn ribbons, awards, and leadership promotions, and eligible cadets may even pursue pathways toward earning a private pilot’s license.

FOBC-supported cadets also have the opportunity to travel locally, regionally, and nationally to participate in CAP activities, training events, and leadership programs alongside cadets from across New York State and the United States. Families are an important part of our community as well—parents and adult volunteers are welcome to join Civil Air Patrol and actively participate in supporting youth development and leadership growth.

Through our support of NY-614, NY-615, and NY-616, Friends of Buffalo Creek Foundation is proud to expand access to high-quality leadership, aerospace, and character-building opportunities for Buffalo’s youth.
